Perhaps it was in reference to the Archie Carr National Wildlife Refuge? The Refuge spans 20 miles from Melbourne to Wabasso. Archie Carr was the Grandfather of Sea Turtle research.

Turtle Beach is the name of one of the small parks around Sebastian. I have read that some have found pieces of eight with metal detectors there. I tried, but I did not find any pieces of eight.

Hello MatT,

There is a Turtle Trail Beach about ten miles south of Sebastion Inlet. One of the 1715 Plate Fleet Ships lies just offshore there. I believe it is Santo Christo de San Roman. It is a popular beach for detecting and finding spanish coins after big storms.

in some of the beach hunting books i believe this is where Chucks Steakhouse was supposed to be....north bound you will cross over the inlet and it will be on the right side...
small building with signs out front...and walkways out to the beach...small parking lot...

Between Melbourne Beach and Vero Beach. Chucks Steak house is gone and replaced by the Turtle info center,(great for children) This is about three miles north of Sebastian Inlet. South of it is Bonsteel Park,(right beside) happy hunting......
