During turkey season I found the nutting stone pictured below. I had a lot of turkey hunting left to do that morning so I left the stone in the woods with plans to come back for it later. Well today I went out to the farm to get memory cards out of my trail cameras and decided to drive back to the area so I could bring out my nutting stone. Well....easier said than done, I couldn't find the darn thing. I remember standing there on the bank of the creek trying to decide whether to stow in on the ground just above the creek or to stow it up the hill a ways. I thought I stuck it under a deadfall in the creek bottom but it isn't there. So.....I climbed the ridge looking at the base of every tree along the trail...not there. This is on private ground and there shouldn't have been very many family members out there but its possible one of them stumbled on it and took it home...which is fine with me. Or I hid it better than I meant to and now I simply can't remember where. Sheesh...now I know how a squirrel feels...

Wow...other than mine being about 5 times that size it certainly is very similar....what part of the country did you find yours in?? Do you know what the material is?

Sheesshhh what a goof I am...I fell for it completely...I was so taken by the similar color that I didn't notice the markings....

In my defense you did a heckuva job removing the shotgun shell!!

:tongue3: that was funny you have to admitt. Maybe you will find it during archery season? Its a very nice artifact you need to find that one.

Yeah...I enjoyed the joke....I'm usually not easily fooled but that one got me. I'll look for it every time I go to that area and unless someone else in my family picked it up, I'll find it.
