Took this tonight with my phone walking along an old railroad grade that serviced the various coal mines out behind me long ago. The days have been hot, but these shorter daylights are such a thrill to experience in the evening hours. The crickets are chirping, cicadas are singing, bats flying around and in the big old plains cottonwood there was an owl a hooting. Those are such wonderful sound to me, as it means these summer days are coming to a close and I'm ready for some of the fall weather now. The standing water is a place that floods when we get some rain and the sun setting over the Rockies made for a nice reflection off the water.

It seems like the crickets are chirping earlier than "normal" this year. Hopefully the cold weather holds off a little bit longer!
