Very nice two cent piece! Congrats:icon_thumleft:

Today i got out on a new field. Found a 1864 two cent piece and this bullet. Think it's a three ringer? It's flat on the bottom. Also some clad and a wheatie.
Here is a picture of the bullet.

Bullet has 3 large grooves and a smaller one closer to the bullet tip. That 4th one is likely for crimping a cartridge case into. Diameter measurement would help ID it.

Very Cool!!! Congrats!!!!

So I measured it with a tape measure. It's not quite a half inch, so I'm thinking 44 or 45 cal?

What a GREAT looking 2 Cent !

You will need a more accurate diameter measurement, done with calipers.

Nice 2 cent piece!

From your approximate diameter measurement, the ring for the crimp and the stubby shape it is probably a .44 or .45 pistol bullet. Could be as old as the late 1800s but they have been made for a long time since then.

When I found my first 2 cent piece, I didn't even know that a
2 cent piece was in the US currency

My guess is your bullet is a more modern .44 or .45 revolver bullet. Since the nose is deformed it's difficult to determine the style, but I'd say it is a "wad cutter" style. These were designed for target shooting and cut clean holes through the paper targets. Of course, they work well for hunting at short range.
