Wow thanks for the input. Only thing I don't get is why is the non hook side, (what's the word) serrated like one of those modern pipe fitting that has groves like my item and ment to grip a plastic hose? I can see this it would of been on the end of a pole used to open and close windows, awnings, and shutters.

Since the smaller piece has two holes in it I think in is part of a valve or tap
