I got a chance to go out yesterday and revisit a spot I had previously found a few dozen flat buttons and couple of early military buttons . Had a couple of hours or so before sunset and managed to pull out these two early buttons. I was super excited to see these two come out !! When I got home and looked a little closer and checked the back marks, I noticed the larger coat button had (E Pluribus Unum ) on it . I had never seen a back mark like this . Going through my normal routine of checking reference books I could not find it’s match although it’s obverse is in Alberts book . I did however see where a fellow TN member posted the same button he had found back in 2012. If anyone has any other or updated information on this , please advise . Any other information on what this button was used for and why the political back mark would be of great help. Much thanks for any help!!
