Found roughly 4 dollars in clad today. Earliest clad was. 1965 quarter. No silver coins yet. Also found a crusty item which I initially thought was a large cent. Upon some cleaning, it does not appear to be a coin but some type of medallion. Will be posting pics in the what is it section also.

Likely a fancy bridal medallion. Is it pewter?

Appears you had a really good hunt. The silver is there waiting for you my friend!

Ahab, that could be it. Would pewter decay like that though? Is there an easy way to tell if it is pewter?

Mr B., finding a lot of coins dated 1965 and later so I am close. Have also found two large cents so I have nothing to complain about.

Yes pewter turns into a mess and decays in that way. I have one somewhere for you to compare it too

Keep digging holes and you'll nail that silver.
