The British Penny is a 1945. The silver coin is milled 1 Kreuzer minted under Konstanz and dated from 1657-1705. The coin weight can be dated around 400 years old and is a weight for a Gold Hungarian Dukat coin. HH, Mike
Had two nice hunts this weekend or about 3 hours worth, a thunderstorm chased me off the field today but not before finding two nice relics! These are the first two hunts of this year on my favorite local fields just a few minutes from home. Here?s the finds: A few relics, top row are buttons, middle a whatsit and a small leather harness d?cor that still has some gold plating on it, bottom is a small brooch or maybe harness d?cor, what looks like a ring as it shows wear from a finger but may be a
washer and two buttons, one looks as if it was made from an oyster shell.
Found this nice token today, Good for 1 Liter Beer, I really love these tokens and a 1925 Brass Aluminum 5 ReichsPfennig.
Reverse of the token and 1925 coin, token has a vine of Hops on the left and a stem of Barley on the right, note the funky 2 in the 1925 date of the coin, they put a tail on the 9 to make a 2.
An unexpected surprise coin, a huge British one penny measuring 32mm dating from the late 1800s to the early 1900s. A young looking bust of King George, may be a coin from a British ruled country and not England, the obverse.
Reverse of the British coin, this is Britannia sitting in the middle, a shield to her lower right is gone, your left, LOL, the word ?One? near the 10 oclock position and the word ?Penny? near the 2 oclock position, date should be at the 6 oclock position but I was not able to raise it even after a hydrogen peroxide bath. Maybe some of my friends in England can help ID it exactly.
Found a small silver coin, 15mm, near the area of my oldest coin finds here. It didn?t hold up well, not sure which is the obverse or reverse and the details are hard to make out. It does have the look of an early milled coin but could be a hammered, late 1600s maybe? Hope to get an ID on it.
The reverse looks like it has an eagle with spread wings.
Here?s another favorite relic find I found today, a coin weight dating around 300-400 years old. The weight shows a standing man, sword lower left and holding a staff to the left, to the right he is holding an Orb, extended arm that looks like a ball in his hand, just above the ball is a cross. Orbs have been used on coins from the 1400s through the early 1700s as far as I know. The first 3 hours on my local hunting grounds have been good this year, didn?t find much trash as I?ve detected these areas already but who knows what the plow will bring up and the farmers here deep plow, 15? sometimes. HH all, Mike
