Okay, thank you! I'm still new at all this. They were found in the same field I've found all my arrowheads, meatate and discoidal so I wanted to make sure they weren't something other than a rock.

The first rock looks to me like a sock darning egg. Could be old IMO. Looks really cool no matter what! I also noticed it looks like it has been painted.....

It's definitely different for sure. I can't tell if it has been what I would call burned and then scraped or if it's paint. I've washed it with Dawn dish soap and a soft cloth. It looks to me like the black lines are something other than paint but I honestly have no clue. I hunt arrowheads where I live but I've also found civil war relics. Maybe it was carried here. Desoto's trail is not to far that's another possibility I guess

Very respectfully, I am not sure I agree with the statement of the first one "not being an artifact". It may not be a native american artifact, but it shows obvious signs of someone either "painting" or "etching" a design on it that is not natural. And the "egg" shape of it seems to perfect to be a natural rock.

an object made by a human being, typically an item of cultural or historical interest.

To me, it looks like a stone shaped and decorated for possible use for darning socks. And it looks old. Not trying to start any conflict, or argument, only my opinion, respectfully!
