A hunt wouldn't be a hunt without digging a couple of old nickels ! Added numbers 37 & 38 for the year with a no date buffalo and a 1943-P war nickel this morning. A pleasant surprise was a deep DL Wing & Company civil war token. I think that is the 3rd DL Wing token I've dug over the years and definitely the nicest one. Pleasantly surprised when that came out of the ground ! Park Pirate scored a nice 1883 indian head.

Awesome finds! My one and only buff nickle is a no date!

Very nice! Still looking for my first war nickel. Do they have a little higher tone and/or vdi than a regular one?

Some history:

. The store cards issued by D.L. Wing & Co., of Albany, N.Y., were struck in unusually large numbers and obtained a wide circulation. "The Wing Milling Company was established in 1845 then, as R.B. Wing & Son, they moved to 384 Broadway, Albany. 1858 Albany Directory: "Wing (De Linton) & Morgan (S.H.), Julian Mills flour store, 123 Pier, h. 289 Hudson." 1859 Albany Directory: "Wing (De Linton) & Morgan (S.H.), Julian Mills flour store, 123 Pier, h. 289 Hudson." 1862 Albany Directory: "Wing, De Linton, flour, 123 Pier, h. 289 Hudson." 1863 Albany Directory: "Wing (De Linton) & Co. (Alonzo R. Wing), flour, 318 Broadway, house 289 Hudson." 1864 Albany Directory: "Wing (De Linton) & Co. (Alonzo R. Wing), flour, 318 Broadway, house 289 Hudson." 1865 Albany Directory: "Wing, D.L. & Co. (Alonzo R. Wing), flour, 318 Broadway, house 289 Hudson."

Nice mix of finds right there.

hey Ed,

did you ever go to Talladega speedway with a couple Yankees from PA.

I ask because years ago I went to the race with a guy named Ed - his username was Upstate NY, lost touch with him online. We stayed with another fellow from Georgia and went to the race from there.

Wasn't me, although I would love to attend a race at Talledega !
