Last week I found a sweet 1830ish cloak clasp. It has a Federal Diplomatic Eagle and was probably linked to the Virginia Militia. It was AWESOME, one of my finds of a lifetime. I did share it here but did not know what it was for sure. I sent it to ask Mark Parker of West East Treasure Magazine and he identified it for me! Thank you Mark.
A few days went by and
I went straight back to where I found it and 16' away on my "hot hill" I found what I thought to be the other half! I was jumping up and down! It was about 7" down and came out of the ground with the same green patina as my first cloak piece.
I actually ran back to my car through the woods and got home so I could put the two next to each other to see if it was a match.
Well when I got home I was disappointed to see they did not match but none the less I was SO HAPPY! Two cloak clasps within 16' of each other in the middle of the woods at my hot spot! So neat. To wonder how they ended up there...?
Now I have two other halves to look for!!!!
