Me and my daughter were digging our last hole in a yard filled with pulltabs, shell casings and crumpled up pie plates when I got another good signal on my detector. I told my daughter this was going to be the last pull tab of the day because it was getting dark. Well, our last hole had two South African coins in it. We got a 2 1/2 shilling from 1954 and a farthing from 1954 out of the same hole. I couldn't see any details on them at the time from dirt on the coins and because it was getting dark. I thought we had a wheatie and a half dollar. I was pretty happy about finding what I thought was the fifty cent piece because I never found one. What are the chances I would find two South African coins in the same hole before I found my first fifty cent piece?
