Two weeks in Nevada

Spent the past two weeks prospecting all over Nevada.

Too many stories to tell here without boring you all but one thing for sure the US gold isn't all in Ft Knox lol. There is a LOT of it locked up in areas completely inaccessible to us mortals. The drive on Hwy 6 between Tonopah and Ely is a prime example.

Felt the 6.5 earthquake up in Seven Troughs and then a few days later stood on the exact epicenter just off of Hwy 95 near Mina. Some pretty big cracks and you could see for miles the fault line. I'll bet some gold has been shaken up big time.

Had some good luck out in the Seven Troughs area on places not even under claim. Same goes with Rye Patch... without giving away too many secrets there is BLM land out there with gold on it... nice gold... that isn't even under claim.

It takes a darn good truck with bulletproof tires to get into some of these remote areas. But holy cow is it fun to prospect like that! Two weeks of leaving all the virus BS behind. Nothing like it right?

Was on the east side of Area 51 around midnight looking at the glow from Las Vegas to the south. The sky was dark and clear. A few nights later was west of Searchlight truck camping and saw the Las Vegas lights to the north.

A thought occurred to me. They managed to shut down our churches AND Las Vegas. Quite the feat.

There is gold near the old Vanderbilt mining area west of Searchlight. It is under Federal Preserve so no mining/prospecting. The place is pretty remote and I spent the day out there. Will leave it at that lol.

Been out exploring Nevada for almost 40 years. No pictures as they just don't capture what the eye can see. I just take it in and am thankful to have the health to be a modern-day prospector like the rest of us.

Our family kept our boat stored in Searchlight for about
15 years. Lived in So. Cal. and loved to fish/ camp at
Cottonwood Cove. Last time I was in Searchlight was
1987..hooked up the boat and hauled it all the way up
here to Wash.

If I remember correctly, Searchlight (and surroundings)
was littered with unmarked mine shafts..glad you were
careful!

And yes there are mine shafts everywhere.

I rolled up onto the Hart mine around 11pm that night. It's about 20 miles west of Searchlight. Let's just say that place is highly secure. That mine must still be in operation judging from the security I saw surrounding it.

Got to their gate and hightailed it out of there. Was looking for a quiet place to truck camp and ended up about 5 miles away deep into the Joshua Trees.

My dog growled all night at the Joshua Trees as they look just like people at night. He's not one to growl without having a real concern. Twice I had to get out and show him there's nothing to worry about but that ended up being a long night with little sleep. I don't scare easily but I'll admit all those trees around us made it hard to sleep without one eye open lol.

That is some beautiful country out there. I agree theres sooooo much gold still to be found Im glad you got to get away from all the virus BS I dont even listen to news anymore. Great post .......Tommy
