recently found a wreck site on the ocean near a beach area--the "wreck" is quite close to shore---there are numerous smallish round stones (looks like roundish chunks of coral) of various sizes (from fist sized to bowling ball size --although the small size is much more common) strewn about on the beach area---at what point did the practice of using rocks for ballest fade out? and I think by proving where the rock/coral came from would help ID the ship as there are several possible differant wrecks from differant time eras in this area. any thoughts on this?
