Many thanks. Il'd be glad to contact him but my english speaking is very bad and I live in Italy. Do you can find address and\or e-mail of Robert Gray? For me is more easy to write. Please reply in Personal Message.

That is awesome. I wonder if its the same guy?? He would be very surprised. Keep us posted.

I assume the "knife" is rusted shut? It might be a straight razor, especially since it was found with some shaving lather.

The 5 bolt-looking items resemble pins we used in machine gun mounts. The hole at the skinny end is for a cotter pin that keeps the roll pin from sliding out.

Those are great finds!!! The brown bottle may be some type of anticeptic like mecurchrome(sp). That dog tag is really neat. If it's not the same man, maybe it's his son. What a great piece of history. I am sure he would be glad to have it...d2

Agree. Possibly Iodine.

The 'T43' on the dog tag indicates tetanus inoculation in 1943. The 'O' on the right is his blood type.

Won't he be shocked to learn about his dog tags being found. All these years later. Will bring some memories back for him. Maybe he can go to Italy and you could show him where they were found.

Please tell us his reaction!

Cool relics ;D hope you find more.

Plehbah,

They won't be fond memories, but definitely from a fascinating time in his life and probably cathartic. Alot of soldiers go back to the place where they fought. I think it helps to go back, helps you work through it. Even all these years later. It will be interesting to know his reaction, and maybe he'll even want to go to Italy!
Okee dokee?

Someone can help me to contact soldier of dog tag or someone of his relatives?
Also some photos of this solder will be very useful for me to a article for our newspaper I'm writing. Thanks.

Hi Matteo - were the dog tags ever returned to him or his family (I see this thread was started in 2008)?

Also what ever happened with that other dog tag you posted here a few weeks ago? I recommended that you contact the US Embassy in your country - did you have any success?

Regards, Erik
