Found a couple hours ago. Found musket balls, three ringers....all the way to a 1941 silver quarter. Any help would be appreciated. Kieth

It's a harness accoutrement ... WWI era.

Just speaking up in confirmation. Creskol is 100% correct... it is a horse-harness accouterment/emblem, from the World War One era. Here are photos of an undamaged dug one, and a non-dug on the original leather.
