U.S./German Bale Seal Help

I found this seal in Virginia and I was looking for some help identifying it. On one side I was able to identify after research possible German words (top) Verkaufs (middle) Syndicat and bottom Strassfurt. Then on the front I can only make out the "U.S."

Syndicat Verkaufs Kaliwerke was a potash fertilizer ...
Fertilizer lead bag seal... my guess.
Late 1800's to turn.

Since there was a U.S. on the seal, was the fertilizer factor in the U.S.? I thought it was odd it had U.S. on it.
