U. S. tag Id help needed

Any ideas on this tag I found at an 1800"s site? Penny is for size comparison. Very thin, no markings on the back. Thanks. Dan

Where are you at?? I have been trying for months to find a picture of an ID tag of which I don't even know what it looks like. While reading an article on the Indian Chief Geromino it is said that he finally relented to wearing a military ID tag that all Indian prisoners were required to wear. This was in No. Arizona. I could only presume that all the Indian prisoners were required to wear one. However, I'm not holding my breath on ever seeing one. This summer I plan an going to the Chricuahua Indian reservation in Arizona to see what I can find out.
