Picked up this pocket watch chain piece the other day a coin store. They also have jewelry. Every time I go there they treat me somewhat rudely and always ask "Are you actually gonna buy something or just look again?" I honestly shouldn't go there lol but they have made some mistakes before. I should note they overprice and buy stuff for very cheap. Anyways, they had this pocket watch chain piece in a scrap jar. I saw the 14 mark and it somewhat looked like gold. I asked how much and they said ten bucks which was a ton of money because everything was supposed to be scrap gold filled?? It only weighs 2.5 grams.... Had this not been gold it'd be on ebay all day for less than $2 and you could get a lot of them. SO it actually did turn out to be 14k gold clasp along with a 8k solid gold pendant! Dating to the late 1800s. Can be worn on a necklace or pocket watch chain, think I will throw it on a necklace. Also, picked up these two pieces of sterling jewelry at another thrift for $11. The dolphin one is actually pretty cool! Edit: not even sure if the dolphin is actually 925 or not, thoughts?

Your LCS sounds like a bunch of jerks.
On the other hand that silver though!! Hefty!

Good eye! I would doublecheck the dolphins it doesn't look silver to me.

I had been thinking that same thing ever since I picked it up. It is marked 925 but looks off. It was only a dollar so no loss there if it is fake!

I gotta get it tested!

Test kits are very inexpensive.

At first look it screams of silver. But when I zoom in on the picture of the dolphins in your hand, there's a bit of splotching normally indicative of plating. Maybe use some silver polish or the like to see if the splotches are really present.

However, on the other hand, that bracelet has the weight to it, and the quality of the workmanship (spring latch) wouldn't be found on a junker.
