unique glass bowl

Has anyone seen a bowl like this before? It looks like it has gold leaf on the outside over a cracked laquer type paint. It is really nice looking and I would like to know how to protect the gold on the outside? and if there might be more out there? by the way I found it at the resale shop for .75 cents. Thanks for looking

Off hand, it looks like Goofus glass. I normally see goofus glass with patterns in the glass mold, but not plain like yours. If what you have is goofus glass, it's not worth much. The paint is known to flake off. Do not wash it. If you must clean it, only lightly dust. No cleaners and keep it out of direct sunlight.
