Earlier this afternoon I was at a friends house in order to do some trading and he was showing me some new items he had picked up recently. Once he showed me these, I had to take them home so after some dealing, I was able to acquire them.

The detail is exceptional but I have yet to find a single hallmark. All I've seen it Sterling 950. Has anybody seen similar items before? Each piece has a pair of legs that swing out and there is a small gap, at the top, big enough to cradle a place setting tag for a dinner party.

I don't know how old or if they are even Japanese. Could they be American or English?

I had a set of 950 japanese silver that was marked like that. Only the case showed the name of the maker. Sold for $100

yes, the woodend box can be seen in the second picture. I didn't think it was original but now it seems it is.
