Hello all,
Yesterday my wife recovered this unique and odd little item. We were hunting an old site that has been home to numerous homes and business's since the late 1800's. She was using her MXT with the 4.5x7 Excelerator searchcoil and dug it from about 4 inches. The item is made of copper and is of a little pot bellied man with wings holding something in the air. It has writing on the bottom saying "Moline (MP) Plow company.
When we got home we plugged the items name into the computer and found that its the official trademark of the Moline Plow Company. It is called the Flying Dutchman. The item was a stickpin. The pin had long ago rusted away but the little winged man is in perfect conditon. We found that the object he is holding in the air is actually an ear of corn. The trademark was registered in 1886. We are continuing our research of the trademark pin. We thought you all would enjoy seeing it. If you know more about it please let us know. Thanks and happy hunting. Dennis and Bonnie in Idaho
