Not a cow bell... Thought it was a sleigh bell. Once cleaned out theres a ball inside, nice sounding bell. Anyone know anything about it?

If anyone remembers, had a really old trashy site where a house and outbuildings had been knocked down. Found the bell where the driveway used to be. Also found a 39 wheatie 100 feet away in a 5x5 grid i did. Lots of metal building materials. Amazes me that this is now a picnic area (that no one uses!)

Haha sorry for the picture! Left the bell at home and didnt want to cancel all that typing, but that picture was taken for wifey. She likes updates on what junk im bringing home ;) Ill post a better pic later on.

HH!

Looks like an old crotal bell. Often used on horse tack and carriages etc. One of the common uses was to warn other horse drawn vehicles of the approach of another. I also think it was just common to use them just as décor on working animals. Some date WAY back. Great find.:icon_thumleft:

Nice bell, I like the flowers on your shirt, be careful, she'll have you wearing the bell to hear you approaching too! lol ha

Thanks, i usally rock out with my terrapin station shirt when i MD :)

I think bells are really interesting finds. Some can be very very old. Nice discovery.
