I found this last night at an 1880's home site. It is flat, no curvature at all, and appears to be iron. The necktie-shaped part appears to be broken off (perhaps a handle or lever?) and is attached by two pins or rivets, which you can see on the "back" side.

It doesn't appear to be a shovel or scraper because it isn't rounded at all, and the edges are all square and thick (about 1/4" thick all over). It's not very big -- the size of my hand, holding it in the photos.

My gut is saying "wagon part", though I have absolutely no reason to think that.

Any ideas what this was (or was part of)?

Broken wagon or buggy step possibly..
