Hi everyone,
I really need some help with this one! It's a thin brass disc with an anchor embossed on it. It was obviously riveted on to something else originally--four of the rivets and many rivet holes still remain. It was found along with the flower, artillery, and lead button today in an area that has given up several Civil War relics--most of them Confederate (private farm with owner's permission) If anyone has any info. on this piece, I certainly would appreciate it! Thanks, Jack.

Looks like I'm going to have to modify these pics to make them fit!

Second attempt at pictures!

STILL too large, but I hope you can see the disc at least well enough!

I can see the pics well enough but still don't know what it is. :icon_scratch:

some type of cover for the vessels piping or machinery I 'd say --with those rivets clearly its not meant to be opened often but still whatever it covered was needed to be accessible at least once in a great while. --- see a nice confederate artillary "A" block style button. --- with its size might be a capstan cover (capstan is a device used to raise and lower the anchor )--logically speaking a anchor design would be very fitting on one.
