I hunt in the hills of Northern California. Today me and a buddy hit an early Gold Rush site. My oldest coin to date was an 1848 large cent. Prior to today I had never found any 1800's silver. Little did I know today that I was going to hit the trifecta. The first silver coin of the day was an 1835 capped bust dime. A few minutes later out popped the 1841 seated dime. A few minutes after that was the Chinese coin. As we were about to leave I hit one last area on a hunch and found the 1822 Mexican reale. We do not get too many old old coins like you folks back east. I was squealing like a little girl and had goosebumps I was geeking out so much. To find three pre-Gold Rush coins in one hunt here in Northern California just does not happen very often at all. I will not forget this hunt any time soon. Cannot wait to hit it again.

So a Mexican, a yankee and a Chinese guy walk in to the woods 170 yrs ago and you ended up with their coins. Awesome finds.

Awesome score for Cali!

Very nice selection man! I know full and well that it’s difficult to find old silver out East by me, but out West by you must be insanely difficult. Wow, you really killed it. Congrats

Damn thats awesome.

Thanks for sharing!! Awesome finds anywhere but I love seeing fellow Ca guys finding the goods! CONGRATS!

Those are some amazing finds Mtnbay!! Keep them coming buddy!!

Excellent coin shooting mate. I'd be working that area over thoroughly. Congratulations.

Hokeysmokes Bullwinkle, what a day YOU had, great finds, I tromped around the woods in S. Oregon yesterday and beat myself up doing so, and found nothing really, but you just got me fired up again. Nice coins there mtnbay, very nice.

Outstanding hunt ! Congratulations. I would think finding 3 nice silvers like that in one hunt would not happen in to many places in this country. You were allowed to squeal like a school girl.

Killer old coin shooting, congratulations! :occasion14:

That sounds like the beginnings of a great joke! :laughing7:

Your reale coin looks like a 2 Reales, there is not a Mexican 2 reales coin dated 1822, unless Iturbide 2 Reales. You either have the the wrong date or the wrong country, but whatever the outcome is congrats on those old silvers.

Certainly a day that will be remembered by you for some time.

Holy smokes, that is awesome. Nice finds! I can appreciate how hard it is to find stuff that old out west. Keep hitting that site!

Lol it would be amazing if you could make that into a story or a movie

It’s always awesome when research pays off.

Well done!
