Unreal find... turned into buzz kill... I'm still a happy pup!
Hit up a spot in Orange,Virginia this morning where they are building a new house... My first couple signals were very old turn of the century lead slugs - then right when i was about to call it a quits after digging nothing but melted lead, modern trash and 1890s junk i started walking back to the truck down the newly bull dozed driveway and got a loud reading and out popped this South Carolina tongue - well WHAT was left of a SC tongue - it fell apart in my hand like it is in the picture.... I thought i was dreaming - even though it def. is anywhere from perfect condition i was so stunned and happy ... I spent 3 hours hunting the spot after that to find perhaps the wreath holder - i was suppose to meet someone today but canceled and decided to go straight home and clean it up..... Where the driveway use to be is actually an old road bed dating back pre-civil war and going on for about a mile in the woods (it's been well hunted) so I can only image how or why this solider lost it..
Also - want to dedicate this find to "Surf" who passed away May 3rd who was my friend on here.. i was thinking about yah today Surf and i know you brought me good luck!!
