unstripped wire questoin???

i was just wondering about the prices of the wire. i have a lot of the power cords. they are plastic coating with 3 coated wires inside. is it the same price for the whole thing compared if i take off the outer plastic so that i have the three wires??

Take off the plastic/rubber*insulation* that hold the three together.
Not sure of the prices in your area..
But around here for the insulated wire its around $0.80/lb, for the coated wire*3 wires inside* its $1.90/lb, and if I strip it completely so its clean copper its $2.65/lb

I suggest unless you need the space of money, take the time and completely strip it when you have time and are bored instead of watching tv or something and bring it all in, in the winter when prices are higher.

thanks. i usually strip it all but i have so much. and when i have the time i go out and get more wires but i think i may save it until the winter now that you mention it

Here in Va it pays all the same if it is insulated...stripped is a lot more.
