This was found by a creek where arrowheads are usally found.It is 4 inches long
1 inch wide has a bone look to it,There were two of these found.Can anyone tell me if
from plant or animal?

Bone from what? Or do you think it was tooled that way?
 

maybe an old style of barette for hair
 

It's definately bone, and it's been "worked on", probably by indians. But, I have absolutely no idea as to which animal it came from. Nice item. Go find more..
 

Just looked at your picture again. I don't know what the other side of the object looks like, but it just hit me, that it could be from the backbone of a turtle. Just a guess, but it sorta looks like one. Anyway, nice find.
 

Just saw one like it yesterday at teh resivor, so I am going with fish bone and not worked by anyone.

My guess is an Otolith, fish inner ear bone. Hubby used to cut them out for my while filetting fish. Dries ,paintes with clear nail polish, made into earrings.

My first thought was turtle bones...almost sure of it. I used to do fishery science work with otoliths and will say that is not an oto....
