It is the size of a nickel and thin as a dime. I took three shots in different light hoping someone could see something to identify it. I struck the edge and it appeared to be silvery. The back side is pretty much smooth so I didn't take a pic. Non magnetic. Thanks for taking a look.

I think I see the name JOULES on it. There is a British clothing company by that name; could be a button, but the Joules company isn't very old from what I gather from my short search.

That was my first thought, but when enlarged it didn't look right. Could be.
 

It's a flattened memorial cent.
 

That's one of those let it be what you want it to be. I say its a penny soaked in fertilizer for years.
 

Thanks guys. I scraped the surface, saw copper. The edge was silvery, so I'm going with Zlincoln. Nice detective work!
