Unusual glass syringe

Found at a bottle dig in Independence Missouri. Forgot to put a ruler next to it. Approx. 4" long, no markings of any kind. My question: For what purpose was this used? The point doesn't seem to have any way to hold a needle to it. Maybe it was a chemist's syringe for mixing small amounts of liquid? Thanks for looking. CJ

I think it is an old glass irrigation syringe. The flanged top was so that you could insert a rubber bulb.
