Many years ago I fell in love with the awesome bone tools that the late, great Steve (Larson1951) posted from his Mandan site here on TreasureNet. A couple of years back I flew up to an auction in ND and got a start on my frame, and I also met Quito in person.

I bought a lot of stuff at that auction, but I was particularly impressed by Quito’s eye for quality. When looking at a frame of 50 pieces being sold quickly as choice (you bid, pick out the pieces you want for that price each, and then the bid starts again until the frame is empty) Quito ended up with some absolutely stellar pieces.

Part of the Loitwood collection came up auction a couple of months back, and I couldn’t attend, so I asked Quito to help me out and he picked up some amazing pieces for me. He did not let me down.

Here is the main frame.

Here are my original fish hooks. I like the mix of preforms, unfinished, finished, and probably discarded hooks.

Here are the new additions.

That's a great looking display! I love the different stages of fish hooks, very educational.

Very nice collections of Bone artifacts .

I have to say two maybe 3 of the bone points left of the largest one are made from the dew claws (if that’s the proper term) of deer.
I’d never seen that type before.

That is an amazing assemblage of Bone artifacts Joshua. I got the book from the Loitwood auction but just didn't have the cash to buy anything. Some awesome pieces in that collection.

Awesome collection. I can't imagine how they made those things. Thanks & Larson was a great guy!

Dandy bunch of bone pieces and hooks. Must have fished a lot, they made a lot of hooks.

I saw those too. I have found hundreds of those on my sites and never found one that was worked.

Amazing! I'll give you $1.25 for one of those ugly, unfinished ones!

Those are awesome! Especially the ones in the last frame. I only have one partial hook from the field that Steve hunted. It was apparently thrown into the fire since it is burnt black.

Wow, those are amazing!
