Found this Navy Button but pretty corroded without a backing so I can't tell where it was made.
Anyone know of a way to date this without the backing? According to my research, it's 1860s-1941, but that's kind of a big range.
It was found near a union campaign route but hard to say if it's civil war era for sure. Also not sure why a navy buttton would be so far inland.
