Minelab X-Terra 50 & Garrett Pro Pointer
I set out this morning to check out some yard sales and brought my detector along just in case I came across some interesting areas. As luck would have it there wasn't many yard sales but my journey did bring me over to an older part of town and I noticed a bus stop that had the bench still sitting over some grass and dirt, unlike the modern ones that were concrete filled. I pulled over and decided to detect it, boy am I glad I did! Here are my finds from an area that was about 20'x8'.

1934 Australian Large Penny
1940 Mercury Dime
1941 Wheat Penny
(2) 1941 S Wheat Pennies
1952 S Wheat Penny
1959 D Roosevelt Dime

An unknown token (has a crown on it, with no date)
A cool old brass whistle that says " ACME Thunderer Made in England" on the front
A silver "Cat" medallion
A large brass hoop or ring item

and the best find of the day; A US Navy Good Conduct Medal that read (Front) "United States Navy" (center) "Constitution" and the (back) reads "Fidelity, Zeal, Obedience" and is marked "Samuel Green Garner 1938"!

Enjoy the pics!

Love that penny, there has got to be a great story behind this find :icon_thumleft:

If you want to find Samuel Garner's family, the San Diego Library has a great genealogy area with city directories and obit indexes for the newspapers. PM me if you're interested and I can give you more info.
