Hit some more sidewalk work today. They dug out several hundred feet of 10 foot wide parkway around the old high school. Down about 10-12 inches. Nothing surprising there, harmonica reed, watch faces, watch guts, watch bezel. I think prehistoric Elginites sacrificed watches to the gods sometimes, they're everywhere!

The small Canadian made me think half dime until I scanned it and viewed it. Now I think Canadian silver nickel, the thing is tiny.

Looked around and that Canadian silver must be a dime, only the dimes had the queen on them. Silver nickels had the king o them. Here's a shot of it next to an American dime for size comparison.

Yeah, dug many thousands of watch faces over the years. Some aggregates consisting of several hundred crusted together. There was a malady attached to the painters at the watch factory since these were mostly young women (German/Lith), who would wet their brushes with their mouths then paint the radium on. Pretty horrible way of going, their mouths would literally fall off, lower jaw and all after several years. It would come on quickly and no one associated it with the work for some years. Some thought the glowing lips were a treat, at first. Radium necrosis, icky.

The Canadian dime is wafer thin and has no discernable date. Just barely visible on the back is the crown, no other markings on that side.

Nice find. Just wanna point out that I may be wrong but I think "canuck" Might be a derogatory term. I am pretty sure you didn't intend to use it that way, but I just thought maybe you might wanna alter your title. But I'm a nobody, so I'll just shut up and move on now. Nice find anyway.
