Hello all, I do a little bit of detecting for nuggets in SD. I am going to FL in a couple weeks, I have never detected on a beach before. Without doing the research, I was just wondering if I could get some names or places to try out for some old Spanish gold. I am basically going to get one day to give it a try. Suggestions, comments, ideas, anything would be great.

Thanks!

It all depends on which side. Gulf or Atlantic. I search Gulf side when I go.

with out a strong storm before you go - Spanish gold odds are low - extremely low unless your a diver and can hook up with a dive co.
your best bet is to go to south bch and look for new Spanish gold

best place for Spanish gold or silver would be mel fishers or mclaritys gift shop!!!!.........im not joking!

Well Ok I know that the Spanish gold is probably never going to happen but would still like to give it a try. I am visiting my folks in Lake Placid, which is in the middle of FL so I have a 2 hour drive to either coast. I have a friend near Sanibel Island that I might visit and I have read about Vero beach but just thought I would ask where some people would recommend.

I have been looking for 8 years and have not found Spanish gold for which the current conditions are poor, not that you shouldn't try. Sanibel is known for it's seashells, you may need a strong scoop there. Check this site for a good education on the Spanish goodies:The Treasure Beaches Report brought to you from Florida's Treasure Coast.
