Paul dug this today and was going to toss it, but I thought I'd see if I couldn't figure out what it went to, well I didn't so now I'm posting it here because now I just have to know, and hopefully someone here will recognize it. It's brass I'm pretty sure, has a nipple end that looks like an automotive vacuum connection to me, the other end has slots and looks like it was made to twist into something and lock in place. I cleaned the dirt out of the end and there's a ball blocking it partway up. I Can't push it to see if it's spring loaded or not because the nipple end is clogged up solid and I can't get the dirt out. Anyway here's a pic, any questions I will try to answer.

Well mystery solved! The top pic is a dead on match, and that makes some sense being found close to the lake. Thanks for the id!
