Those two pieces dont belong together in my opinion. One is slip cast and one is hand thrown. Different glaze schemes, and proportionally off from each other....

Completely agree. The chicken looks like a standalone ornament, not a lid. If it is a lid for something, it sure isn't for that container.
 

Thank you. I thought it didn't seem to fit well together. What is slip cast?
 

Slip casting is way of mass-producing pottery by pouring liquid clay (known as 'slip') into a plaster mould such that the plaster absorbs much of the water and allows a layer of clay to retain the shape of the mould. It's a particularly efficient way of making pottery in complex shapes or with intricate detail.
