Hello all. I am new here and to the world of metal detecting. I just got my metal detector today, it's a Bounty Hunter Quick Silver, and so far has proved very valuable. I went to the beach found a lot of bottle caps, a cheap ear ring, a bunch of trash, and about $2 in change. Anyway, I just wanted to post a potential lead here, VB Middle school on 24th street is being rebuilt where the baseball field was so maybe it might some good finds. I think I might try to search in the next day or two. If you are going to go down there I would wait till the construction crew leaves for the day cause you wouldn't want to get ran over by a bobcat or anything.

I live near there, and noticed the project as well. I found some info online about it, let me dig it up again.

I may try to hit it up sometime soon between the low tides, so if you plan to head there, let me know ahead of time, or, jsut let me know if any goodies are found. It looks like they wont be done for quite a while yet.

I haven't hunted there yet, but a couple months ago, I spoke to a 92 year old woman who lives nearby. She says the site was a dog racing track in the late 20s/30s. Couple locals hunted it a few years ago and turned a ton of silver. I wanted to hit it while they were excavating for the new construction, but rains turned it to absolute soup. They very quickly backfilled with several FEET of fill. That's on the west side of the project. I haven't been by there recently to check out what they're doing on the east side.

I have poked around there a couple times with my excal around the school, not on the construction site. It is hard to hunt land with a water detector, only some stuff near the surface. Need a good land detector to find the silver I am sure. Hard to go deep with the one I have
