I think you got the date spot on. Can't remember the name for these thick rimmed/edged buttons, begins with a J I think.

I have seen these early Steam Engines used before on various types of buttons. (I have 1 or 2)

Really nice RR button. There's a lot of RR history in my town but I have yet to find anything like that. Congrats to you Mister.
 

Remembered the name, its like a ''Jacksonian button''.
