When you feel the urge to clean a coin remember the old addage - Act in haste; regret at leisure.

I use Tarn-X for the silver bars I get and for the silver coin rings I am making. I would never use it on a valuable coin, I don't care about polishing melt coins with it. The bars are worth melt to me also. Cleaning coins is no big deal if its yours and you know the risks.
