very old copper coin of unknown or origin

found this old coin in New mexico at an old town where i went metal detecting at on my way back to kentucky from california have no idea looks very old and VERY worn , i can find no date and the back is completely wiped

back of the boat the other side is worn flat, its the exact same size as a modern quarter

The "coin's" field is bare, the design very simple and there is no writing or numbers visible.
I'll go with 'back of the boats' belief.
