Medieval disc fibula with nice black stones.

Hi everybuddy!
I hope you all are doing great and not having backpain yet. :)

It was last week that I could go out for swinging but I wouldn't post anything if it was not for this special medallion.

On my first impression it was some kind of junk. Anyway, I put it away carefully. Hopefully I didn't damage it with the spade.
Another bronze medallion came out just a few meters away.P_20200213_143918.webpP_20200213_141101.webp
And the iron stuff was not missing
I was not happy at all turning back home with a heavy bag full of scrap.

But let's get back to the ugly medallion. I decided to have a look at it. With just some tooth stick and water I began cleaning the top surface. More I cleaned it(for hours) more I felt in love. Very nice details became visible.P_20200303_001808.webp
It is a very strange crafting mode. There are two layers of silver and in the middle there is some kind of plaster.

This is how it looks now. Sure I have a lot to do yet but I wanted to share it with you. Any advice would be great.
Thanks guys
Best Vince

All the best to you also Vince. That is a very cool looking medallion. Your last picture of it all cleaned up brings to mind images of chariots
and old Greco-Roman decorations that were attached to things of that era. I have no clue as to what it is but the stones in it look nice. I wonder what the stones are made of ?? I wonder if it was attached to a helmet, headpiece, belt or sword or something ?? Very cool !! Congrats & best wishes to find more stuff in that area.
Maybe someone like "CRUSADER" can figure it out.CHEERS !! J.T.G.

Thanks Jose
I don't have an idea either but because of the rust on the back I guess it is a disc fibula. I don't have a better idea yet.

Thanks buddy! The only fact I know is that the area was abandoned around the 1350 AD. Most of the coins that I have found there are from the 4th to 1st BC and 5th till 9th AD. I hardly remember any Roman coin. That's all I know at the moment.

Thanks buddy. This was my first experience. I hope I will have other opportunities.

That's great. I had to visit the doctor because of a light pain round the right shoulder. He said that it was nothing to worry about. He aske me if I have been working too much with the right hand.:laughing7:
I should have told him from the beginning that I've been using the metal detector.
