Very wuick hunt at a new site

Well I had an opportunity to make a very short hunt while I was at a house I was working on. I found a first but I'm not quite sure of the use of this little d buckle or the age. Thanks for any info you guys can provide...

It is a common enough looking 'D' ring typically used with a strap as a tie down for a bag or as on attachment point for a dog collar or some form of harness arrangement/detachment point. Good luck and keep swinging...................63bkpkr
