I just use a cheaper model cam, Tachyon XC. They have been around for several years, in fact I was the first to do Metal detecting videos using a older model tachyon around 2007. Video quality is OK, far from the Go Pro but What I like about the Tachyon XC it goes for 8 hours on rechargeable AA's, so I just turn it on and go hunt, no turning on and off as you go... I dig a good target I just cup my hand over the lens to mark the find I want to edit out...also it is mounded with Velcro to the headphone cup so it captures the audio of the detector .. One thing I don't understand about many that do metal detecting video's, I love hearing what targets sound like.
