(**video**) Canadian colonial house "SOLID BRASS PADLOCK"
I went detecting a couple weeks back and the first place i went was a farm house built in 1891 and got what looks like a wood stove hinge with a company name on it, a Britain Co lead soldier, and a few coins. The next day i headed out to a family fiends house which is one of the oldest houses in the area built in 1838, the original part is a log cabin that is covered in cedar shingles with many additions added in later years, i got nothing but modern junk all day, but the last few minutes before my dad came to pick me up i got a relatively iffy signal with a mix of iron and a good signal in between so i dug, i ended up hitting a large brass object with the digger
and that is how i noticed it, so i got out the camera and filmed than pulled it out by hand, it ended up being a solid brass "new champion 6 lever" padlock with no iron in it (i checked with a powerful magnet) i cut off the iron thing to prevent more scratching, the key hole still swivels and when i pull on the latch it still moves and clicks, also i pushed all the levers with a bent paper clip and all the levers still move and have there spring, so if i brought it to a lock smith they could probably open it, well i hope. And my best guess on it's age is just before WW2.
