any guess on the age? its solid brass. the gear is new, the older ones rusted away. there is a little patch of silvery paint. thanks!

I thought so too, so I contacted the Eppinger Manufacturing Company. they said it wasn't one of theirs. here it is after a nice cleaning. it definitely has a hand crafted look to it...
