Found this ring today at a site that likely dates from the mid-1800s. It appears to be copper/brass allow with a thin gilt layer.

The wording around the band read "FOR . A . FRIEND"

Any help on dating this is appreciated.

Motto on ring reminds me of sewing thimbles from Victorian era that would also bear various mottos.

Thanks Hawks88. My research skills are lacking. This ring must have been mass-produced, as it is not a precious metal. No makers mark inside band, though.
