Hi, as an old fart new member I hope you nice gentlemen can help me.

I recently purchased a twenty-one (21) year old White's Surfmaster Pi, cheap. I'm fairly certain the tuner control knob is out of commission as it just spins and spins. The hardwired headset has a short, bump the cord and it works, bump it again and its out.

So, is the old baby worth repairs?

Thanks,

PI machines live, and still thrive.

Really depends on the cost of repairs versus purchasing a new one.

How handy are you...

Not much when it comes to electronics.

It's not the TreasureMaster is it... PI1000, PI2000 or PI3000.

if its a whites Pi Pro from the mid 90s and the insides are good - no water got in from knob prob
I would think it might be a cheap and easy fix - so might be worth it
I did very good with my 1995 whites Pi for like 10 yrs - if you get it fixed - let me know and I'll tell you a secret

Hey, my first water machine!!!!!! they are stinkin awesome machines

Schematic posted at www.geotech1.com, tech forum. Whites would fix it at reasonable cost too - what you get back works and sometimes looks like new. I've sent them two. Great beach detector as long as you are not near firepits...
