I have no doubt that Obsidian traveled very far. What a great material to show and trade.
 

So we can find other arrowheads here than crude quartz, good to know!
 

The author makes a great case for the Obsidian being local, I didn't see that coming! Good share.
I have lived all my life in VA and i have mined it myself it's hard to find but when you find it generally loads. I still have a huge bag from mining it when I was a kid and bringing it to my geology teacher. Here is some from that bag

The obsidian has copper and some iron In it I've found mossy obsidian and possibly turquoise and something similar to sulfer smell within it no idea though it's generally white and powder
